Born Ready:

A Hospital Birth Prep Class Held in the Comfort of Home

When should I leave for the hospital?

What if I have to be induced?

I think I want an epidural.

How can my partner be involved?

How can I blend a holistic birth approach with medical evidence?

How can I ensure we aren’t forced or pressured?

What do we do when we get home with our baby?

If your thoughts about birth & postpartum sound like this, we’ve got you covered.

This is a small group class taught by Perinatal Educator and Doula, Aly Monteleone, with the help of our other doulas! You will join 2-3 other couples in this cozy, honest, home setting.

Among other things, here’s what to expect:

  • Positioning our pelvis and body through the different stages of pregnancy & labor.

  • Navigating the birth place with confidence through informed consent.

  • Partner involvement from start to finish: practicing counter pressure, partner-assisted Spinning Babies movements, and how to advocate to your care team.

  • Immediately postpartum: Golden Hour, Delayed Cord Clamping, baby's first latch

  • Resources for Lactation, Pelvic Floor PT, and Mental Health Therapy

  • Postpartum planning at Home

  • Lunch with your doula!

  • Cultivating one’s ideal laboring atmosphere

  • Natural induction methods

  • Physical and Emotional signposts of labor progression

  • Timing contractions & when to go to the hospital

  • What to do when things don’t go to “plan”: induction, intervention, and cesareans.

  • What to pack

  • Breathing and pushing

This is a comprehensive class inspired by Evidence Based Birth. It’s a safe space to ask questions, explore options and preferences, and build community with other families due near you. We are real with you from start to finish - no unhelpful fluff - about the beauties and challenges of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum life. Our goal is for you to leave feeling empowered with practical skills and the confidence to advocate for your family no matter what the birthing space brings.

  • Classes are held every 4-6 weeks in our South Park office (92104).

  • Lunch and snacks are provided. All dietary restrictions can be accommodated!

  • Class typically runs from 9am-2pm.

  • This class is included for all birth clients.

  • This class is $250 per couple, and we can take most insurance plans.

  • We look forward to welcoming you and helping you get ready not just for the big day, but for all that lies ahead!

“What stood out the most was the education Aly provided. She didn’t just show up for the birth; she equipped us with so much knowledge ahead of time that we felt completely empowered walking into labor and delivery. Honestly, we felt so prepared that by the time labor came, we didn’t end up needing as much hands-on support as we expected—and I say that with the utmost respect and appreciation. That level of preparation is a testament to how thorough and effective her guidance was.”
